Video Diary - Day 5


Electricty Is Out!


 

Welcome to Video Diary Day 5. A bit of a weird one today, I have no electricity. It's been thunderstorms outside, so I'm doing this by iPhone flashlight, iPhone flashlight, laptop light and battery light.


Really excited about this video diary today, and it could have really been the opposite. Today was a real lethargic day. It was raining outside all day. I'd felt my hamstringing a few times. I was giving myself all the excuses in the world to not go to the gym. And I planned it and I kept on procrastinating on it.


It got later and later and then I was like, you know what? Giving myself that excuse with the hamstring. Just take a day off. You only have to do six days a week at the gym anyway, which is my plan. But at 7pm, the electricity went and it was lashing down outside. And I think I got this from maybe a David Goggins book, but I love to go out and train when everyone else wouldn't. So when it's pissing rain outside or it's freezing cold - I think he calls it taking class when everyone else is in bed. As soon as that happened tonight, I just decided to go to get my gym gear on and get to the gym before it closed.


I got my workout in and it's amazing, the fine line between having a terrible day. I could easily have been sitting here with you right now saying, this has been a really bad day. I've had a setback. Now I would still have hit my calories and I still had 10,000 steps this morning or close, but I have a list of things I want to tick off every day. Not ticking them off would've felt like a step back when I'm trying to really progress. There is that fine line. And now I've got the opposite. I've got this mental boost from having got it done when I was so close to not getting it done. That's a tip people can take away for themselves.


It's those days when you feel like not doing it and you're so close to not doing it, but you actually get it done. You get the biggest mental boost from that. You feel like you've overcome a big obstacle versus the days where you kind of get it done more easily. When it's already part of your habits and things are going well and you're just feeling good.


Always look out for those days. You can take advantage of them and come home and feel like I do. That you can take over the world. So yeah, that's the tip for today. Other than that, today wasn't that interesting. Another afternoon nap today, which isn't like me, but I'm just very tired as I get back into this. Like I said, very lethargic. But like I said, I will hit my calorie deficit. Now I'm even more excited about continuing because I got that done tonight. So that's it!
